Planning references, not a quote or statewide average. The prices below come from named California businesses and one provider’s Southern California termite guide. They are not Bro’s rates, a survey of California homes, or proof of availability at your address. No city, ZIP-code, severity or square-footage multiplier is invented here.

1 / Build a transparent reference budget

Choose the work you are comparing

Select a service scope. The result names its source, shows the arithmetic, and keeps charges you enter separate from the published reference. A specialist should confirm the pest and suitable method.

Denny lists this follow-up as required for its 30-day guarantee. Confirm the terms in your own proposal.

Use written amounts for inspection fees, repairs, preparation, travel, lodging or other required items. Zero means nothing added here; it does not mean these costs are included or free.

2 / See the evidence behind the numbers

Published California prices and regional references

Read the unit and geographic scope before comparing figures. A starting price, an initial charge and a total treatment budget describe different things.

ServicePublished referenceSource and scopeWhat to clarify
Initial general pest service$155 exterior / $195 interior + exteriorDenny ↗ · Murrieta–TemeculaAnt service is listed separately. Follow-up is another charge.

The general-service endpoints reflect two published coverage options, not a measured market range. The termite figures reproduce one provider’s regional guide; we have not converted them into statewide averages. No promotional coupons or “free inspection” assumptions are used.

3 / Replace references with your written prices

Compare two first-year quote totals

Count payments, not visits. If the initial charge includes the first appointment, count only later billable payments. For a one-time job, keep additional payments at zero.

Written quote B

Enter both initial charges to compare the totals.

Each total = initial charge + additional payment × payment count + other required costs and taxes. A lower total does not establish equal coverage or better value. Include only charges due in the first 12 months.

4 / Match the proposal to the problem

Which costs belong in the same comparison?

General pests: visit vs. plan

A single visit and a recurring agreement have different obligations. Check the pests and areas named in writing, callback limits, minimum term and cancellation charges.

Termites: method before price

Localized work, soil treatment and whole-structure treatment cover different situations. The California board distinguishes localized approaches from whole-house fumigation and heat. Get inspection findings before selecting a budget.

Rodents: stations vs. entry repairs

Station servicing is not the same scope as sealing openings, attic cleanup or insulation replacement. Request separate line items for removal, repairs, monitoring and restoration.

Bed bugs: define rooms and items

Ask which rooms and belongings are covered, what method is proposed, and how preparation and follow-up are priced. We have not assigned a California average where the selected provider publishes no numeric rate.

Why the calculator does not multiply by home size

Floor area alone cannot price every service. A fumigation proposal may depend on structure volume, while a soil treatment depends on perimeter and access. Describe garages, outbuildings, shared walls and affected areas to the inspector; do not scale a single-room or single-visit amount into a whole-property promise.

Before hiring, ask for the company’s legal name and relevant credentials. California Structural Pest Control Board license search ↗ helps you find the official lookup. UC IPM hiring guidance ↗ explains inspection, written plans and total-cost questions.

5 / Add the local context

Find your California city guide

Your city guide adds service topics, local planning resources and an area-reference map. It does not change the calculator’s prices or confirm a provider serves your address.

California pest control cost questions

Is this a California average or a Bro’s quote?

No. It is a planning calculator using the named provider examples and regional termite references shown above. The independent provider confirms your scope, availability and price after reviewing the property.

Why does my city or ZIP code not change the result?

We do not have a measured city-by-city price dataset supporting a location adjustment. Travel and local conditions can affect an actual quote; ask the provider rather than assuming a ZIP-code multiplier is accurate.

Are taxes, repairs and follow-ups included?

Only the displayed reference and charges you enter appear in the arithmetic. Obtain a written list of mandatory extras and applicable taxes. A blank or zero does not confirm that a cost is included.

Why does fumigation show a plus sign?

The source says $3,500 or more. The calculator preserves that open upper end even after adding your known expenses; it is not a maximum-price guarantee.

Why is there no automatic bed bug price?

The selected California provider calls for situation-specific pricing. Get a written treatment scope, then use the quote-comparison calculator instead of relying on an unsupported average.

Does monthly billing mean monthly visits?

Not necessarily. Read the payment schedule and service schedule separately, then count the payments actually due in your first 12 months.

Sources and calculation methodology

Compiled by Bro’s Pest Control. Checked October 25, 2026. This is a small, nonrepresentative set of publicly available California examples, selected because units and service scope could be identified. It is not a price survey, endorsement or provider recommendation. Source businesses are not identified here as Bro’s network members.

  1. Denny Pest Control: published pricing ↗ — initial general service, quarterly visits, standalone mouse/rat programs and specified follow-up/refill charges. Provider geography: Murrieta–Temecula Valley.
  2. MEC: termite treatment cost guide ↗ — regional method ranges, updated August 19, 2026. The $3,500+ fumigation upper end remains open. Repair costs are separate.
  3. Classic Pest Control: program pricing ↗ — Visalia-area one-time starting-price example and quote-needed specialist services. Starting prices are not upper bounds.
  4. California Structural Pest Control Board: termite fact sheet ↗ and license lookup ↗ — method context and official credentials resource.
  5. UC IPM: hiring a pest control company ↗ — inspection, management-plan and comparison guidance.

Arithmetic: add the reference endpoints to the same known extras and any selected follow-up; where maintenance applies, add its published endpoint multiplied by your count of additional payments. The quarterly preset begins with three later payments as an editable illustration, not a statement of every company’s billing schedule. Numeric entries must be nonnegative; payment counts must be whole numbers. No data is sent by the calculator.
